Just goes to show that history doesn't necessarily repeat itself. I was today greeted with the news that Toshiba are pulling out of the High-Definition format war. (Which, to the uninitiated, involves two formats: Blu-Ray Discs and HD-DVDs)

This means that effective at the next Toshiba press conference, all support for HD-DVD will end.

This is a huge blow to Microsoft's XBox 360 consoles, which rely on the HDDVD and DVD media. Though I am pleased about this in a way, Microsoft have always trampled the underdog by pouring support into a niche market, making it popular, then dominating the whole market.

I am pleased the Blu-Ray medium has won the format-war; effectively the higher-quality, higher-capacity disc won (Not to mention the fact that it rolls off the tongue so much easier than 'HD-DVD').

Good news to PS3 owners then! (Stokes his shiny black console)

I mentioned earlier that history doesn't repeat itself, I am naturally referring to the VHS Vs. Betamax formats many years ago - VHS was decided the winner, as it was cheaper to manufacture, and the porn industry got a hold of it early on, though did it really win? Television producers worldwide still use the Betamax format to record broadcast video due to the quality. It has even evolved into Digi-Beta, showing that it is going as strongly as ever (Though a firewire player / converter will set you back £7500).

Sony deserve a big pat on the back, and a nice cup of tea.

House move and Blindness

Well well well, what a week - finally managed to sort out my new house, lots of complicated politics regarding my new landlord, who is the ex-husband of my current landlady! *Blergh* - i have somewhere to live though, and it's a wonderful place!

As for blindness, well - hardly... i went to the opticians today for a checkup after I started getting headaches at work - I tried using a filter on the screen, replacing the screen and changing the lighting, but when i use the computer for long periods, i just get horrific migraines - turns out i'm ever so slightly short-sighted (But barely, -0.25 in each eye) - will still go ahead and get glasses, seeing as company pay for it! Will hopefully mean I won't get such nasty pains after long periods of use...

That's about it for now, need to really start packing for my house move, my friend Nigel has kindly lent me his massive land rover to move all my gear across, must also remember to pay my last month's rent :P eep!

Short one today, as I am so tired...

Main reason for posting is that I'm going racing in Dunsfold (i.e: The Top Gear test track) next month! Wooo! Will take the MG along and put it through its paces ;)

Just making myself some dinner and off to bed.

Wow, this is a lousy post so far isn't it? Well it's been a lousy day... has been raining nonstop all day, Even in England this is a rare occurrence. Usually it starts and stops just when you're going in and out, but today mother nature just said "to hell with it" and opened the floodgates, it seems.

Off to rescue my aforementioned dinner, bye for now!

yoodi came back today, so instead of what was to be another run-of-the-mill entry about stuff and things, you get a full blown 'Woohoo!' entry. I'm so nice to you folks!</p>

Basically, I am in a good mood. There is rationale behind this catch-all statement, which I will attempt to disentangle for you here:

House viewing the other day went awfully well, what did you expect? No... wait, let me rephrase that... "The house viewing went awfully, well what did you expect?" There we go, much more accurate... (Punctuation: I has it)

Sadly when I got to the house to do the viewing, I was promptly greeted by a seedy fellow from the Estate Agency, his first words to me were "Sorry mate, it's just this second gone, I was gonna ring you..."

You can guess the rest....

So now I found myself househunting again, and another little gem appeared! So I have spoken to the landlord directly (No seedy money-grubbing estate agents here!) - nice chap, and have arranged to view it on Wenesday, so fingers crossed!

Now what... I appear to have lost my train of thought... bah!

*Sigh* Nothing coming to me... better get back to video editing. So long for now, y'all!

House Viewing

In about 2 hours time I'm off to view the house I will be (hopefully) living in by the beginning of February. It will be very sad to have to move from my current house, it's so amazing here! But unfortunately the Landlady here has just sold the entire farm for close to £5m - good for her.

The place I'm off to see is an awesome 2-floor 3-bedroomed house in Shalford - still tucked away in the Surrey Hills, and a little closer to Guildford, so I won't be out in the sticks anymore!

Not much else going on today, work as usual. yoodi is away for the weekend, which makes me sad, but she'll be having fun ^-^ the bonus for me is I won't stay up until 3am talking to her, so I can finally get some sleep! *muahaha*

Okay, I think that about wraps it up for today. Peace out, y'all!

I has returned!

After almost three-hundred Gazillion* years, I am writing an entry into a journal many of you may have thought I'd abandoned long ago**....

Well, after some thoughtful debate*** I have decided to make a return, mostly because I'm now visiting ElJay on a regular basis now, for reasons I won't be disclosing at this precise moment.

I'm in a super-excitable mood right now, I know exactly why this is, but I'm also in a sorta-secretive mood too... Deal with it ^-^

Hope you all have a good one. Mine's pretty packed so far, but at least I feel fully refreshed and ready to attack it properly.

Let's hope I'm not dreaming.

Anyway, Aside from the Miserable weather putting a damper on everyone's mood, I feel pretty good, must be the fact I slept okay last night. Huzzah!

I think that was an intro. Wow, I'm absolutely useless at this, what exactly am I supposed to be writing about? *Goes to check* Oh, I see... well I guess I can put anything I like really.

It's 10:07am and I feel like I've had zero hours sleep... I hate that, I also hate Mondays. Grrr....

Okay, think positive... erm... Well.

My eyes have stopped hurting, that's positive I guess, typos are almost negligable on this entry so far, which is also good. Why did I start writing this? Was there a particular goal I had in mind? Whatever it was it's gone, lost to the depths of my mind never to be seen again no doubt.

Typical.

Anyway, I guess at this point I should really think about starting work, an hour and 10 minutes late. *Grumble*

I should really post fewer rants, and maybe consider putting something generally more uplifting here... It's something to think about I guess.

Argh! Procrastinating! Work, work work work...

Well, looks like the new year is off to a great start, I just got bombarded with bills aplenty for everything over the festive season, combined with the Xmas expenditure, my wallet is looking thoroughly beaten! So, off to the temping agencies I go, blah blah... Short term things aren't looking too great!

Anyway, financial rant over, isn't it a beautiful day outside? I look forward to the days getting longer, and maybe eventually longer too.

Been a tad lonely today, Mel went off to London to see Dragonforce, not seen anything related to Wincanton yet (Still wanna see footy photos!) and work has been tough because of said illness earlier. In other news, I'm whoring myself out to temping agencies this weekend to support myself in this house, and loan application has been approved, so things are on the right track, even if it means debts are slowly creeping up to the stage where I can't ignore them anymore. Blast!

In other news, Mel is back now, and at the ungodly hour of 3:00am I fear it is time for bed *Cue coughing fit* ahh... just in time...

I'm sure this will be an amusing read for me in the morning.

Discworld Big Bash Wincanton 2006

...for the more astute among you, yes this is also my first entry.

Well, what a weekend it was. Illness reigning supreme throughout, but the enjoyment was there to be had, and by the gods it most certainly was. Too many ales, not enough cash, plenty of friends both new and old - all perfectly blended to make a happiness smoothie (Blegh). Seriously folks, considering it wasn't a 'Major' festival, I was impressed.

Next - I am now officially known within the realm of the Dark Clerks as Brav Schwarzhund Von Bonk (look it up) my dedication to His Lordship Vetinari is absolute and unfaltering.

Ask me about Lord Vetinari.

Right. My brain has now decided that I've used my quota of legible and intelligent banter, and has decided without my consent to lapse into a coma in the vain hope that I might feel better in the next century.
